very nice, but the Mandalay and Ceaser's are bigger.

I think MGM is the best if you are just playing horses, it is isolated from the sports book and the rest of the casino noise.

I agree on MGM. I have gone there when staying at the other places due to less noise and better pictures

I haven't been there for several years but as I remember the MGM's book was small but of course nice. My favorite remains the Stardust which is across the street and nearby. I also liked the atmosphere in Caeser's which is very dark but the problem I had was the low illumination of the big screens( probably much better now).
Vistit a few books while your there and let us know your opinion when you get back. Also check out the House Quenella's where offered. Many agree this bet can be quite a bit better than on track but might not be offered if the host track also offers the Quenella. Finally mmost important, Good luck.

I understand the Mandalay properties will not permit laptops in their racebooks. The Stardust has a nice book but it is a long walk from the MGM-just stay there although I hear the Paris is a good one and a short walk. If you have a car, take a drive to the Palms-they have a nice book also with terminals from which you can wager.

Bally's gets my vote as well. You also get free DRFs if you have a VIP card. Easy to get one at the desk across from the check in area. Good & fast cocktail service a nice plus.

It's not very nearby and I don't know if they have settled their strike yet. It was the best horse book for a long time though.

If you get a chance to go to the Las Vegas Hilton (you can ride the monorail) I think you will be pleasantly surprised there too.

hracingplyr, bet $20 on a winner for me and take 10% for your trouble. Just send me the balance ;)

All the ones mentioned are nice. The Las Vegas Hilton is out of the way but had a very nice sports book for horses. Mandalay and MGM are my other two favorites. Haven't seen MGM since they renovated it 2 years ago?

MGM's is nice as mentioned it is somewhat removed from the casino floor.

Wynn's new place is also very nice Every seat has table top touch screen for information - scratches, will pays, etc..

Played one day at Mandalay Bay - seemed very small to me and couldn't get the ring bell noise out of my head for days. :bang:

Check ahead on this because I only saw a couple while I was there. Orleans was one, I think, and you need some kind of membership or casino card to access the terminals.
All also have the big tv's and tellers.

I was in Vegas at the end of Sept. MGM is remodeled with big plasma screens but don't go there on Sat. or Sun. as every seat is taken with screaming football fans. Imposible to bet horses of course. LV Hilton has a great set-up with HUGE screens and have put individual TV's at each seat. They have the Alternative Form(forget the name) but interesting, as it has each horses actual times, ala harness programs. They also take the 10cent super. Thank God!! I happened to hit a 5K one at turfway while i was there. Palms was very good also, nice set-up away from all noise. Staying at The Orleans is great for those with phone accounts, as the races are on TV in the rooms. Nice comps at The Orleans too, as no hassle to get forms and reasonable tracking card/points system.
