In the early 70s I seem to recall that Hollywood's Sunset Hcp. was 2 miles on the turf for a few years.

I think he just means that they are nags in TDN. Nothing to do with a marathon distance itself. MNR was supposed to have a 2 mile race last night and in about 2 weeks will have a 2 1/16th mile race.

God bless 'em, what a pleasant change from the usual 5 or 5.5 furlong crap that racing serves up left, right and centre these days.

Hastings ran a race at 2 1/8 miles a couple of weeks ago, which was nice.

A few years back they had a 2 mile plus race at FMT which was a 3 and 1/2 laps around our 5 furlong track. They followed that up with a paint and appalosa racethat all the starters were stretching out from 350 yards to 6.5 furlongs. I thought all the horses were going to fall down as they staggered down the stretch. :D :D

Anybody remember the Display Hcp? 18 furlongs on the dirt at Aqueduct. JCGC was 16f.

I used to attend the Display each year on New Year's Eve, followed by a trip to Yonkers. Yes, I was a degenerate. No Times Square for me when there was 1/2 mile harness action in the area!

2 mile race, eh?

At Finger Lakes, home of world record at 4 miles 70 yards, we call that a sprint!

10 pace figures.......count 'em!
