WASHINGTON — The FBI has reopened an inquiry into one of the most intriguing aspects of the pre-Iraq war intelligence fiasco: how the Bush administration came to rely on forged documents linking Iraq to nuclear weapons materials as part of its justification for the invasion.

The documents inspired intense U.S. interest in the buildup to the war — and they led the CIA to send a former ambassador to the African nation of Niger to investigate whether Iraq had sought the materials there. The ambassador, Joseph C. Wilson IV, found little evidence to support such a claim, and the documents were later deemed to have been forged.

Must have gotten them from the same place that Dan Blather and CBS got theirs.

The L.A. Times writes lots of stuff. Doesn't mean it's all true or meaningful.

What was the purpose of posting it then?

OBTW, did you know the LA Times is ungoing a number of changes? Perhaps their readership is down. The liberals have been leaving or dismissed.

At least there were Japanese soldiers in China. Heck, the way you guys describe GWB, one of our first offenseive actions might have been invading Africa to fight Germans after we were attacked by the Japanese! Oh wait, invading Africa to fight Germans after being attacked by the Japanese was one of our first major offensives.

JR,

According to Musharaf, they were not predators. If it were predators it breaks from the GW normal policy.

"Officials: Bush administration slow to approve armed drones to kill bin Laden
TED BRIDIS and JOHN SOLOMON, Associated Press Writers

Tuesday, June 24, 2003

When President Bush took office in January 2001, the White House was told
that Predator drones had recently spotted Osama bin Laden as many as three times and officials were urged to arm the unmanned planes with missiles to kill the al-Qaida leader. But the administration failed to get drones back into the Afghan skies until after the Sept. 11 attacks later that year, current and former U.S. officials say.

Top administration officials discussed the mission to kill bin Laden as late as one week before the suicide attacks on New York and Washington, but they had not yet resolved a debate over whether the CIA or Pentagon should operate the armed Predators and whether the missiles would be sufficiently lethal, officials told The Associated Press. "While Pakistani officials publicly said Rabia died in a blast caused by explosives stored in a house for bomb-making, officials speaking on condition of anonymity told NBC News he was killed by a CIA missile strike carried out by an unmanned Predator airplane."

doesn't really matter..........we got the bastard..........

But it does matter if we attacked on Pakistan land without the permission of Musharraf. You don't see this? if it is found that the US did use a Predator, then the population in Pakistan may make some serious protestations.

I'm all for doing this. It's what we should have done three years ago pounding that border when we had the high ground.

Oh boy, you are something, Sec.

You whine all the time that we are ignoring Bin Laden by going to Iraq, no we get the #3 guy in Al Qeda and you whine about that.

WE don't need high ground to go after Al Qeda - and if the Pakis don't like it, they are free to do something about it - we have their co-ordinates, too!

And your other post about the drones is a bit dated - that was BEFORE 9-11.

But for today, a new soul is roasting in HELL and that is a good thing!

Bullshit! He was planning to retire and refused to resign when everybody else got fired. I saw an interview with Mike Wallace who said that

"he should have gone with the others, and refused to"

Everybody else attached to that mess got fired except for Dan. He hung around 7 more months and retired right on the same schedule he had set forth a year earlier. Once again, you attempt to deceive.............

When you go to war, you strategize where you get the most bang for your buck. Germany offered the better starting point.

We were already invovled in lend-lease in Europe long before Pearl Harbor.

You libs would call it FDR's war agenda - accuse him of having planned a war in Europe and The Pacifc ahead of time.

Fact is, we have plans and contingencies for wars everywhere. Every president's administration does. We have plans right now for invasions of China, N Korea, Iran, New Jersey, Syria, and Cuba.
