I am sure there is a name for what I am about to describe....
If there is what is it, and how well does it perform for contender selection.

Simple: You take the speed figure, subtract the beaten lenghts doubled from it.

SF-(1/2 BTN*2)

Is this anything published somewhere?

Oh and I am ready for the blasting if it is dumb so fire away ;)

What is this supposed to accomplish?

So a horse gets an 80 speed figure and is beaten 3 lengths, now you have:

80 - (3 * 2) = 74

Is this what you mean?

I meant the horse gets an 80 speed figure but was 5 lenghts back from the lead at the 2nd call. so 5*2=10

minus the 80

gives him a 70

was wondering if there ii is refered to in any form anywhere?

some stupiud thing I did in access database.

This sounds similar to one of the Pizzola ratings if I'm not mistaken.

Everybody keep inventing ways to make the leader/winner look better than they deserve! I'll deal with the underrated non-leaders! :D

Inventing, re-inventing, matching, mis-matching, whatever....if it comes up with something that works thru a data base and the public does not see...it's an edge to atleast explore.

I think that is similar to Pizzola's "Fulcrum horse" or something like that

Figured someone had to do it with more data than I can round up I was just wondering what it did...

The reason I did it, and this may be dumb was to find a pace type call for the half with a variant without having to go to some speed chart or a pc etc when I have the DRF in front of me.

I believe that Pizzolla's PBS number adjusted the final time by the second call in some way.

Pizzolla also added the beaten lengths at the finish to the final fraction to discredit horses with a late move who didn't finish close to the winner.
