Picks for Aqueduct Sunday:
R1 #5 Lucky Gamble-He ran his best races for this barn earlier in the year. Didn’t run too well in first start back for Laboccetta, but I can excuse that some because of the layoff. Look for an improved effort here with the drop in class.
R2 #3 Head of the Charles-Hmmm. Even money last time and 15/1 ML today? It seems a little soon to be jumping off this runner. I’ll give him a shot to redeem himself.
R3 #7 Callmetony-Levine has found the magic potion for this one. He’s been clicking at 30% with Coa, and the fact that he can come off the pace is a plus here.
R4 #8 Yachats-Certainly has the credentials to fire first time out. Forest Camp is doing very well with FTS and the dam has also dropped a FTS winner. Add the trainer/jock factor, and well, bet against him at your own risk.
R5 #1 Anew-Goes first out for top barn. Has shown the ability to stay close in sprints, so I imagine he can hang with any pace in here. He should get a good trip from the inside. The ML fav is probably either going to romp or finish out of the money. I’m going with the latter.
R6 #7 Tiz Nik-Improved when he got lasix and a fast surface. Looking for more improvement with turf in his second route try.
R7 #3 Dream Time-More than likely she won’t get any respect at the windows. But she has shown the ability to compete with this field in the past. She’ll need to move forward to have a shot, but with this lightly raced runner that’s not an impossibility.
R8 Pass
R9 #2 Orwick-I can’t see anything in here that can match steps with him early so he’s the pick here at likely very low odds.
