I have closed my U.S. based wagering accounts -- Xpressbet and BRIS/AmericaTab. Actually, Xpressbet closed my account per the request of the Connecticut Attorney General. Connecticut residents can not bet over the internet. We can only bet with a live operator. However, I presume it is OK to use my internet phone to place a voice wager. And I presume it is OK to have my computer dial the CT-OTB touch-tone wagering service over the internet and punch in wagers using touch-tones. So it seems that as long as the state is able to keep my wagers in-state, they will allow me to bet over the internet -- even though they say it isn't legal to bet over the internet in Connecticut. The attorney general's slogan is -- You Connect... I-Cut.

The funny thing is that I still have three different foreign phone wagering accounts where I can bet French, Argentine and German races. The hard part is making the bets. I have to refer to a cheat sheet when I call in the bets. I am not fluent in French, German or Spanish. :bang:

Why can't you use e-horse or Pinnacle ? How can the state of CT stop you from doing that ?

The state probably can't. And maybe eventually I'll do that.

But given that I've been writing the AG about once per month complaining about his ruling in words that are not too kind, I'm not about to take any chances.

In his defense, he probably is just enforcing the law. The law is just plain outdated, but that's a different issue and not his fault.

I don't really have the time or energy to try to convince a bunch of legislators to change the law. But that is what is needed.

I'm sure there are thousands of CT residents who have online poker accounts and there is nothing the state can do to stop it.

What would your french site be :) ? I like betting on their races when I'm there; their races are quite challenging.

use TCBets.com...screw the AG..he has no jurisdiction over the internet - a world wide entity. As long as the user doesn't break serious laws like child porn, etc they are not going to, nor have the resources, to enforce a wagering law that might not even be valid if tested in court.
