Hey men
Hoping that this has never been offered up before, but if it has forget this,
so here is my premise what numbers do you think are better the Beyer # offered
in the DRF or the Beyer-like # used in Handicappers Daily.I am finding quite a
dicrepency between the 2. Would appreciate any feedback.
TIA

If you can trust the studies, the non beyers have a higher R.o.i( Bris, Postime)

Beyers being more read may be more bet thus lower roi.

I still like the Beyers because I am used to them and can spot an abnormal Beyer allowing me to toss that race. It's not about the best Beyers, but the Beyers that fit the race today. Also, the ability to eliminate the top Beyer horses in certain races while spotting the ones on the rise are the key to my profits. I am comfortable with the Beyers and probably could not handicap very well without them.

Comparison of impact values for BRIS speed figures (average of last two races) to Beyer figures (average of those races out of last three run on same surface (dirt or turf, irrespective of condition) as today's race, or all of last three races if none were run on today's surface), according to Nunamaker's Modern Impact Values:

Overall:

Rank in Field

1 2.15 (BRIS); 2.22 (Beyer)
2 1.52 (BRIS); 1.50 (Beyer)
3 1.15 (BRIS); 1.17 (Beyer)
Front Half (but not in Top Three) .94 (BRIS); .93 (Beyer)
Rear Half .58 (BRIS); .57 (Beyer)

Dirt Sprints

1 2.23; 2.28
2 1.53; 1.52
3 1.12; 1.14
FH .88; .91
RH .59; .57

Dirt Routes

1 2.07; 2.15
2 1.53; 1.48
3 1.20; 1.21
FH 1.00; .91
RH .56; .56

Turf Routes

1 1.92; 2.13
2 1.49; 1.46
3 1.13; 1.26
FH 1.10; 1.05
RH .64; .58

Not much difference between the two, but I'd go with Beyers compared to BRIS (as long as we're talking predictive power and not return on investment), since the Beyers consistently have a higher top value and a lower bottom. (I can't address the figures provided by Handicapper's Daily.)
