Picks for Belmont Sunday:
R1 #6 Gold Stravinsky-Barn does ok with FTS. Trainer/jock combo is 1/1, and the breeding is OK.
R2 #9 Theinnbetween-Has shown improvement with this jock. Trainer/jock doing well together, breeding is Ok for the turf move.
R3 #7 Cupids Arrow-Tried to make a wide move into a fast late pace. That was too much to ask because they went the last half more than a full second faster than the first half. She has shown the ability to stay close to a faster pace so hopefully she’ll get a better trip today.
R4 #7 Rectory Hill-Tough to go against him here. Almost ran down an odds on favorite that was allowed to set easy fractions. Didn’t earn a great fig for that effort, but he has run higher figs in the past. Should be set for best here.
R5 #3 Tiverton-Ran a huge one when he broke his maiden. Followed it up with an even race. Looking for better today in a race where there doesn’t seem to be much confirmed early speed. Gets JR back today, the last jock to win with him.
R6 #8 Bella Fortuna-Earned a nice fig when breaking maiden at boxcar odds. Has some nice drills since.
R7 #12 Sanserif-Race comes up weak classwise so I’m going with the overseas shipper here. The drills go back to Sept, so she’s been in the US for awhile. Nakatani takes the ride here.
R8 #7 Fifth Overture-Shipper goes for fifth straight here. She’s proven at the distance and I think she can compete with this group.
R9 #6 Latino Magic-Wasn’t beat all that badly in his first start in the US. With that under his belt and a decent trip he should compete here. His regular jock is up for this.
