Running windows 2000 professional edition. A couple of days ago the browser was hijacked. Ran ad-aware, spybot, stinger and the spyware provided by mickeysoft. ad-aware finds culprit and says it is being quaranteened but it is still there. Finds "Malware.Psguard". When I click on ie I get page res//:dschop***. *** are letters i forget, problem is on other laptop in car this one is ok. I plan on downloading firefox later but still want to get rid of this virus/worm or what ever it is called.
Thank you folks for any help. And good luck in tommorows action.

I had a similar problem. My Norton program found one but would not removeit. It did, however, tell me the file name and the temp folder it was hiding in. I used explorer to search and find it then manually killed it....good luck

I deleted all temp files and tried search and could not find the file. The web page i get to is (corrected) res://shdochop.dll/blank.html.

Exacta Player,

I've found that using the free edition of an antivirus software named ANTIVIR Personal Edition Classic, has been very good at catching trojans etc. Plus, it gives you options on how to get rid of these pests off your computer, once they're found. Here's the link if you're interested:

Just look for the word 'DOWNLOAD' on the horizontal menu bar on the homepage, left-click on that and go from there.
