Interesting to note that while many of the previous BC Sprint winners have been able to come from off the pace, that is not the case with the Sprints run at Belmont. In New York, the BC Sprint winner has been on or near the lead from the start. While this is good for Lost in the Fog, history also tells us that favorites do not fare well in the Sprint.

Just a little tidbit from www.theyreatthepost.com (http://www.theyreatthepost.com)

Here's some information from this months Brisnet Handicapping Times. I cut and pasted the Belmont Park Track Profile for the Sprint.

Sprint: In the 68 stakes at 6f, closers fared much better than expected. Although early speed still wins the majority of the races, Sustained types (S) won their fair share of races. Only 26.5% of these stakes were taken wire-to-wire.

Outside posts (8 and beyond) performed under par with an impact value of 0.56.
