134th Running of “The Belmont” - Race Summary (Chart links below)

Contenders:

War Emblem

Perfect Drift

Proud Citizen

Possible In Exotics: (Exacta, Trifecta & Superfecta)

Magic Weisner

Sunday Break

Medaglia D'oro

Like A Hero

Wiseman’s Ferry

Pretenders:

Essence Of Dubai

Sarava

Artax Too

Pace Makes the Race: Wiseman’s Ferry has lead all the way in his last two races and with the inside speed appears to be the early pacesetter. Provided War Emblem will rate behind the leader, and sees a half-mile near 48:00, he should hold off the late charge of Perfect Drift and Proud Citizen, both of which should be will positioned for the stretch run.

If a speed duel develops and the mile is faster than the 1.36:1 of “The Preakness”, expect a rested Perfect Drift to make a big challenge along with Proud Citizen. Others benefiting from a speed duel are Magic Weisner, Sunday Break and Like a Hero.

Most likely winner: War Emblem

Horses in an exacta: (The above) plus Perfect Drift, Proud Citizen, and Sunday Break.

Horses in a trifecta: (All the above) plus, Magic Weisner, Like A Hero, Wiseman’s Ferry and Medaglis D’oro

Most likely “longshot”: Like A Hero

We like an exacta box of War Emblem, Perfect Drift and Proud Citizen and the same in a trifecta box adding Sunday Break and Magic Weisner.

Good Luck,
