Laurel race 1: taking a flyer on #7 and avoiding what will be the heavy chalk (#5).

I had the right idea but the wrong horse. #5, who had a huge "figure" advantage over the others, wasn't taking as much action early as it should have, and that's usually a sign something is wrong with the horse. It went off odds-on and stopped badly in the stretch.

Unfortunately, #6 got first run at #7, so no winner.

Woodbine race 5, #12 Sunshine Canyon.

The horse, a late runner, went many lanes wide on the far turn and won easily. Too bad they all don't work like that. Unfortunately, it got bet down from 9/2 when I put my money in with a minute to go, to 5/2 at off time. $7.90

Pushed the pace for a while, then quit. No real excuse.

#3 went wire to wire, opening up in the stretch. #2 wasn't in contention. $14.30.
