Wow! Since I’ve been out of town on business the past two days, I see my post stirred up a lot of emotion, and questions as to my motives from other forum members. From what I’ve read, I need to be specific on the purpose of my posts. Therefore, here are my post clarifications:

1) This was truly my first post.
2) I am not “Pandy” in disguise advertising Diamond software.
3) I am not promoting his software because I HAVEN’T purchased it.
4) I received a mail solicitation from “Pandy,” and I went to his website for more information. That’s where I got his insight on how to use the software/ratings, and I personally determined the cost to be reasonable. FYI, I found this forum from “Pandy’s” website links
5) The only intention of my post was to find out if other forum members have purchased the software, and if they have had success with it. If they have, how do they use it?

I’ve enjoyed the sport of horse racing ever since my dad took me to Detroit Race Course 29 years ago on my 13th birthday. Based on your responses, all of you enjoy it too. Do I think the Diamond software top rated horse will win time and time again? Of course not, I’m not that naive. But maybe I can use the ratings to supplement my current way of pace handicapping. Have I in the past wasted money by purchasing some of the unscrupulous “mill” generated systems? I won’t lie, of course I have. Hopefully, I’ve convinced some of you that I’m a man of integrity by the above statements. If I haven’t, I realize there little chance I can change your mind.

I used to play detroit racetrack via simulcast, it is a shame that it closed.

A belated welcome to Pace Advantage. Your post was met with sarcasm because of the behavior of others before you. You should not be accountable for others' behavior. My remark in the other thread was actually an inside joke based on another thread. I have, however, responded unkindly in the past to similar posts as yours.

Your clarification post, if you will, shows you to be a sincere person. I hope that you find PA a little more palatable in the future. There are disagreements to be sure, but this is really a pretty great site.

Oh yeah, maybe you should give a shout out to Xippy, because he definitely got your back. :)

Okay, we'll assume that you're legitimately interested in Diamond.

I bought this a few years ago. It was very awkward to use. The GUI was primitive. The software ran off of Foxpro (a database program), and it took some doing to switch from one racecard to another. Picking pacelines other than those chosen by the program was a chore. Scratching horses was a chore. Closing the program didn't close the database.

I ran the program through about 40 racecards. The results were typical. The program picked a lot of chalk, and when the top rating was a longer-priced horse, it generally ran up the track. Others may do well with the program, but it wasn't for me.

I don't know enough about Pandy' software to offer an opinion on that but I can tell you my Dad used his selection service to narrow the field to contenders and it was very good. I was pleasantly surprised. My Dad picked a key horse from his contender list, handicapped the field and bet exactas and ran $150 up to $1,000 over 10 weeks. Pandy Picks as he called them were not just the top 3 favorites but had some price horses in there.

Having said that I doubt the software duplicates this as his picks often referenced trainers etc.

Pandy did seem to be a straight shooter.

So good luck and good hunting.

Was this the T-bred or harness version because the harness version can pick longer priced horses if you model what wins at that track?

This was the thoroughbreds. I haven't seen the Diamond harness program
