3619

4075

One of these numbers represents the attendance at Mountaineer Park on Tuesday night, Septemeber 20th and the other the attendance at Belmont Park Wednesday afternoon, September 14th.

Do you know which is which?

If you guessed 3619 is Belmont and 4075 is Mountaineer then you guessed correctly.

On-track bettors at Mountaineer bet an average of $10 each for the whole card.

New Yorkers who were on-track bet a little more per person -- actually, a lot more $200+ per person for the card.

Mountaineer betting:
Track Attendance: 4075 Handle $40,702
Off Track Wagering Attendance: Handle $1,583,769

Belmont betting:
Track Attendance: 3619 Handle $784,028
ITW = intra-state wagering Attendance: Handle $2,402,561
ISW = inter-state wagering Attendance: Handle $4,789,944

If you couldnt actually tell from the numbers, the MNR ones are a little misleading. I don't know how Belmont gets theirs, if it is paid admissions or what, but Mountaineer counts the number of cars that come in, and then multiply it by I think 2.4, and then add the people that are in the OTB (which by the way, would have already counted as cars coming in). When they list it as 4075, I would be willing to guess a MAX of 1000 horse players, which would make it $40 a person average, which is still lousy :)

That's the funny part -- that they attract a lot of slot players to the racetrack grandstand and count them as racetrack attendees.

the house prefers the track money over the slot money? Believe me, the house prefers the take on the slots vs. the ponies.

Buddah,

I know you're one of the regulars at MNR. I go there when I go back to Ohio to visit family.

I reread my posts and I don't see where I ever said I think the house prefers track money to slot money. I'm not the smartest guy, but I'm smart enough to understand where MNR got the money for the new hotel and big purses.

So Belmont bettors lose about $40 per person, and MTR bettors on track lose about $2 per person? :D

Way more poor people go to MNR than Belmont

Way more bettors are going to bet bigger money with solid horses at Bel than horrible horses at MNR

Give me Mnr, Penn, FL, Del over NYRA any day of the week.

I'd cry if Pen closed:( .... if Aqu closed, I might never even hear about it.:confused:
I'd rather shovel the driveway than play that miseralbe excuse of a race track in the winter. :ThmbDown:
