With all the tracks putting in new surfaces, new grass courses, etc, I thought it would a good idea to make a list of who and when they did this .

I know :

GP - everyting new as of 01-01-05
CT - new track, but when?
Laurel - new turf only - when?
TP - AWT as of 09-01-05 - anything done to the turf course? Do the HAVE a turf course?
Any others anyone can think of?

TP - no turf course - why do you thing they call it TURFway? It's kinda like OakLAWN :bang:

EVD moved the whole track 20 miles north and expanded to 8f before start of this meet. 04/07/05

Laurel's turf track didn't have a race until this meet. The dirt track was new as well, but it was run on during the previous meet. I think January 26, 2005 was opening day for the dirt track, while September 7, 2005 was opening day for the turf track.

Tom,

And while you're at it, start another message thread about tracks that use to be, or will soon be 'used to be's' such as Bay Meadows and Hollyweird Park. Pretty soon Santa Anita will be able to rightfully lay claim to the title of 'great race place' because they'll be the last track standing in CA (with the except of DMR).

20 miles! Wow.
Must be hard to watch the races from the grandstand, huh?

Has Santa Rosa ( SR ) had a turf course before this meet? I am picking up pp's from there on Trackmaster showing no speed ratings or variants.

Same for Laurel Turf but CJ"s comments made that right :)

Santa Rosa guys. Any clue?
Thanx

This is definitely the first year of Santa Rosa's turf course, it was brand new for the meet.
