Beyer-Quest for a crown

Beyer is trying to have it both ways in his column. He's calling for a better 3 yr old test and decrying the fact that medicore 3 yr olds capture the public's attention more than late developing 3 yr olds and older horses -- as they used to -- but then at the end he subverts his entire argument by saying there's nothing more exciting than the Triple Crown, so gee whiz, OK.

Take a stand, Andy!!! For or against the Triple Crown? I think he's against it, but realizes it's a hopeless stand so he has to hedge at the end.
