As we approach Breeder's Cup we'll see more and more invaders from Europe.
In the DRF PPs, most of them will sport a Timeform Rating for each of their performances abroad.
Here's a guide, prepared by renowned author, handicapper, and punter Nick Mordin, to help us Yanks equate those Timeform Ratings to Beyer Ratings:

Timeform Beyer
140 124
135 120
130 116
125 112
120 108
115 104
110 100
105 96
100 92
95 88
90 84
85 80

Not many horses with Timeform ratings less than 85 are sent here.
Hope you someday find this table helpful.

Would the table have led me to Arcangues (spelling?) when he won at boxcar odds?

Interesting. I've always handicapped using a bigger gap at the low end and narrowing it as it came into the 110s and that seemed to represent pretty well

Arcangues had never run on dirt, so I'm not sure it would apply. It helped me land Buy The Sport in the Gazelle a few years ago at $98 or $99.

I believe Arcangues won a Grade I, four or five races back, against older horses. So the class was certainly there.

Ahhhh, good ol' Arcangues. Permanently burned in the memory of everybody who bet that race. It was like watching a fatal car crash in slow motion. With that odd name being called for maximum disorientation and memory searing,Arcawho?!! And to add insult to injury, who's on him-Bailey!!!!!
