Interesting that the Albany Times Union last week suggested that NYRA no be allowed to participate in the bidding.

Maybe ATU is in the back pocket of some of the higher ups in the NY State Legislature....seems like an odd stance to take, don't you think?

Why shouldn't the current owner/operator of the franchise not be allowed to bid on it's own product?

And besides, if ATU thinks NYRA sucks so badly, they shouldn't have any fear of them actually winning the bid anyway.

Sure, if it were anywhere else but New York. The folks in Albany probably know more about it than we do -- especially us California types -- so if they're nervous, maybe we all should be too. But really, if all that's happened recently hasn't brought New York racing to its knees, then it's hard to imagine anything that really could.
