From someone with entirely too much time on his hands....is there a technical term for the crud that builds up on the wheels inside your mouse and makes your ball roll rough?

 The technical term is "Protein Krud". Either get an optical mouse or use isopropyl [rubbing] alcohol and a "q-tip" to clean the rollers and the ball.

Then use tweezers for the mousey bellybutton lint. THEN go get an optical mouse.

Bill W,

Then use tweezers for the mousey bellybutton lint. THEN go get an optical mouse.
