Notice from Ken Massa at HTR to his customers.....

OPELOUSAS, La. (PRNewswire) – Responding to the dire need for help and resources for the Louisiana citizens became a top priority for Evangeline Downs Racetrack & Casino. In an unprecedented move, the racing operation is donating 100% of its revenues from Sunday's, September 4th, racing program to the Acadiana Chapter of the Red Cross Relief Fund. The racetrack is hosting a special night of thoroughbred and quarter horse racing beginning at 6:45 p.m. The benefit goes nationwide through the Evangeline Downs Racetrack & Casino simulcast network. "Everyone who bets on our races Sunday night will be making a contribution to the relief effort," said Mike Howard, General manager for Evangeline Downs Racetrack & Casino.

I'm gonna be betting everyhting that moves, and I'll donate every ticket I cash - not profits - every ticket I cash period. I'm challenging everyone here to beat me out.
Maybe we can get together in the War Room and 'cap live.

Hi everyone,

This is just such a wonderful idea. I'm certainly going to try to get as many people as I can to bet Evangeline that night. I've already asked the Trackmaster folks to make my picks available for free for EVD for that night and suggested to them that they make _all_ PP's and selections free for EVD that night. It's up to Trackmaster how it will be handled, but here's to hoping.

I'm going to add a blurb to the end of all my pick sheets until Sunday letting everyone know about this.

I'm also going to contact some people I know in the industry and try to get the word out as much as possible. Bet EVD sunday night!

Really glad I just caught this being friday. Been relaxing down on the Cape and set for a big week-end with great weather coming (cook-outs and beach ) Haven't bet in awhile, but now I will try my best to be here and in the warroom for Sunday eve. If I'm here, I will demand 5 other guys to be with me and bet on every race thru my accts.! Have had a decent year so far (ex. july), and this way I can give some back to those that desperately need $$ now. Will somehow work this out, even if I have to go back to Boston.( I will need help w/the quarters).

Hope the WR is packed!!

I am in.........the way I bet Evd I might be better off just sending a two hundred dollar donation to LA. ;)

I guess we'll find out together....but I doubt it will be any bigger than the pre-Derby chats we've had in the past....

If the WR gets unbearable (dumping members or not letting in etc. ) we can always go live in the selection forum. Not as good, but do what we can do. Just a thought

How can you go wrong?? What a fun way to make a donation!! Beats the others ways I was going to do it..actually I'll probably split it up (doubt I can write off the bets as a donation.... :D

This way I can spread my donations around.

Great Idea!!!MNR DMR Sar ...... what about you doing the same... If all tracks where to donate like EVD what a positive message this would deliver about horse racing.
Think about all the positive news coverage they would get. They would have to spend 10 times as much on ads to get this kind of attention.

TRACKMASTER SUPPORTS HURRICANE KATRINA RELIEF EFFORTS (http://www.trackmaster.com/cgi-bin/track_link.cgi?file=track/index.htm)
On Sunday, 9/4, Evangeline Downs has committed to donate 100% of their revenue to a hurricane relief fund. In concert with this, TrackMaster has decided to donate all of their net revenue associated with all paygo products for Evangeline Downs on that day to the National Horsemen's Benevolent & Protective Association (NHBPA), a group who is endorsed by the Jockey Club Foundation. NHBPA is coordinating fund raising and human relief efforts for Louisiana horsemen and is also in the process of setting up a hotline for Louisiana horsemen. We hope you will support this cause.

Here is a track profile for Evd for the last 30 days - gives you the winner of each race, by distance and date, fps ratings for AP,EP, and F3 for the winner, and postion and beaten lengths at the first two calls.

Good luck to all, and bet with your heart, not your head! :jump:
