I just came back from SAR with the guys and each and every time I printed out the DRF Formulator files for the crew, the track layout always prints out backwards and upside down.

I wrote and called DRF customer service and they suggested I update Adobe..did that...still upside down and backwards. Now they are stumped.

CJ busted my chops about it and I'd like to fix it before we meet next year at SAR.

Any suggestions?

Storm

are these files native PDF's or are you putting them thru pdf writer or distiller? The PDF writer print driver is know to do this. It has to do with overlapping text and images........known problem.

Distiller will not do this.........fill me in on how you create these files.

I don't use formulator..........at least not since the first version and I can't remember crap about that.........is it an export? or are you just printing to PDF format?

I am having the same problem! I wrote them and they asked what model printer I had, but haven't heard back. What printer do you use Storm Cadet? Mine is HP1320 Laser Jet.
Do you know a solution to that PDF problem Ralph?

I can answer, since I was with him last week. Its a Digital Dot Matrix, complete with the paper with the perforated sides with the holes in it. We had it connected to Buddha's Commodore 64.

Too funny.

I had always had that problem when I printed from Formulator, though I don't use it often. Figured it was just another DRF blunder

that's probably what it is..........if so many people are having that problem. The PDF writer may be incorporated in the formulator.........if so.....that is the problem. PDF writer does this on several types of docs...........the solution is to use PDF distiller...............instead of writer

It sounds like some of you guys may need to update your printer driver. E-mail newsletter@drf.com, tell us what kind of printer you're using, and our guys will get you the appropriate link.

F4 uses PDF to print out PPs??

I don't use 4, still use F3, and never had any print problems, but I don't think the PPs were in PDF - could be wrong.

Got a call actually from DRF technical staff and they are looking into the problem...I have a relatively new printer (unlike what CJ said...thanks pal  ) and I have the lastest updates from HP.

They said they will get back to me as they saw on this board that others are having the same printing problem!

Stay tuned!

I have an HP1320 and the upside-down-backwards track graphic has printed from day-1 using Formulator-4 files. I checked my driver against the latest one on the HP web site and it has the same date. My previous printer an HP1100 printed the track graphic OK from Formulator-4 files. It's a minor annoyance. And, there shouldn't be a problem when you print pdf files as those files are preformatted when the pdf file is generated.

A problem that showed up yesterday was Formulator not recognizing "OSA" files. (Oak Tree @ Santa Anita). It was the first day that I had downloaded for that meet. Finally gave up and bought pp's at BRIS!

In the Formulator program go to: Print Setup/Properties/Advanced/the 4th icon
over from the left--Page Setting (4).
Make sure the picture of the "A" looks riight and both Mirror Print and Reverse Print are turned off (blank). This worked on my Brother HL-2040 Laser Printer.

Good Luck!

I haven't been printing the Track Graphic, since I'm familiar with the tracks I'm printing. Saves on the toner/ink. No wonder I never noticed it.

Does anyone happen to know if Formulator Version 4.1 will contain a fix to this printing issue?

Working on a fix for 4.1.

4.1 out next month, likely.

I recently purchased a new laptop...I was all excited and downloaded the Fromulator 4.
Since BC is coming up, yesterday (10/26) I purchased the Belmont card for the 29th...down loaded it...but for the life of me I could not get it open.

After much frustration, I gave up...I've now uninstalled Formulator 4. Maybe I'll try again when 4.1 comes out. Just out a few bucks for the card I purchased...

Did you store your downloaded race card in the right directory?

The default directory, unless you've changed it, is:

C:\Program Files\DRF\Formulator\Data

I did not select where to store it, but went with what was recommended and just clicked on the "continune" button for that portion., assuming that when I went to view the card, 4 would know where to go since I went with their recommendation.

Now I was somewhat familiar with what goes on, I used to have Formulator Basic on my old laptop and was actually happy with it....all the advertising about how much better 4 was and what many extra things could be done with it lured me in....but right now...naaa.
