Hard to go against Mullins even with the long layoff. I'm willing to wager that he's got this one primed to run based on the weekly workout schedule going back 10 weeks - Proud Hope to win.

I was all over Dep. Doc R., but Espinoza tried to push through on the rail, almost got killed, and knocked the horse ahead off stride, thereby losing on the best horse. It was an Afleet Alex-type moment. The horse very nimbly avoided catastrophe. Speaking of which, if you think today's card was awful, check out Wednesday's. Where do they get these bad fillies and mares? Well, I guess it IS the Del Mar Fair.
