Getnick and Getnick unable to complete its final report (http://www.thoroughbredtimes.com/todaysnews/newsview.asp?recno=56943&subsec=1)
Court-appointed monitor Getnick & Getnick was unable to complete its report to the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York on its recommendation regarding the New York Racing Association’s deferred prosecution agreement, which was due August 23. Thoroughbred Times (http://www.thoroughbredtimes.com/todaysnews/newsview.asp?recno=56943&subsec=1)

I mean, come on...this is one lame ass excuse:

it has become apparent that the vacation schedules of the many parties working towards a final resolution, as well as other time constraints, will prevent Getnick & Getnick, the Court-appointed monitor, from being able to submit its final written report to the United States Attorney’s Office and the Court prior to the August 23 date.

That is pretty sad. It's not like they found out about the deadline last week!

Sounds like someone should have been monitoring the Monitor.

Someone should investigate Getnick and Getnick....they are not operating the public's interest. Isn't this contempt of court?

That's interesting.
After the roundtable on Sunday I tried to talk to Hayward but he was huddling for a while with Getnick on the side of the room. It was more than a while since I hung around to catch him but the meeting ran on.

Sure wish I had super-hearing for that meeting :)

Anyway because of that I never got to talk to him to ask about the report and the Aug. 23 court date.

If this comes back to hurt NYRA, they need to change Getnick & Getnicks's name to Getscrewed & Getscrewed.

Yea sounds like EVERYBODY is against NYRA. Don't see how they keep the franchise.

So far, nobody has shown a valid reaso to take it away from them. And no has a proven track record of doing any better anywhere - not Churchill, not Magna - nobody has ever come close to putting on the quality product NYRA has offered.

Now. now. How could they possibly have known that a lot of people might take vacations in August. You just can't always plan for 'acts of god' like that.

They lost $15 million last year.

Bobby,

As opposed to Magna's losses of how much?

Bobby

True. Magna has enormous losses. But, on the other hand, & in the interest of fiscal responsibility, it sounds as though NYRA needs to either A. cut jobs or B. cut purses. There's no excuse for them to lose $15 million.

Yes, they have a good racing product better than we got here to be sure, but I think its definitely going downhill.
