Ok, complain it is not adjusted for inflation. Ok, claim "we is at war." Ok wiggle and squirm about the flightsuitboy "inheriting it from Cinton.

But take a look. No matter how you slice it, not a pretty picture.

An estimated $331 billion this year.

Stand corrected.
Minus $564 billion since Clinton. If the estimated deficit holds.
Minus ? if the projection is off

Factually minus $412 billion in 2004
Minus $645 up till then.

Just curious why, if you were able to find the most recently updated numbers so quickly, you chose to post the older estimated numbers. Is it because they looked worse? Or did you get the chart in an e-mail from someone who hadn't checked the most recent numbers. Like I said, I'm just curious, your post insinuated those were the most recent numbers, which you will admit they weren't, so I'm just trying to figure out why.

Truth is date sensitive, hcap.:bang:

This was the last version of da chart I posted

http://www.paceadvantage.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=254&stc=1

Back in 06-11-2004. Approx 300 billion in the hole.

An estimated $331 billion this year.

Date sensitive yep. Worse each year.

But you posted -480, not -331. Why? Was it an honest mistake? or something else? Because if you go by projections, than your out of date chart shows that the trend has things looking better. Still room for improvement, but headed in the right direction.

As soon as the a corrected chart is posted I will link to it.
Exageration was not my intention. The reality is bad enough.
If you prefer the old chart at -$300 billion, go right ahead and refer to it. Just add minus $31 billion.

The clear juxtaposition of presidents with deficits is what makes this chart interesting

Hcap,

Does it include the projections by the CBO if the tax cuts are made permanent out to 2012? or the effect on the deficit for this Fall's supplementals?

WASHINGTON - The next president will inherit a record budget deficit of $482 billion, according to a new Bush administration estimate released Monday.

....A $482 billion deficit, however, would easily surpass the record deficit of $413 billion set in 2004.

Listen guys, all you have to do is draw downward. Ain't that hard to figure it out. So I guess all you who think running up a deficit is good economics-skate- you got your wish

Did you finally find a post a few years back that had you predicting something that actually came true? Kudos to you!

Now, how's that civil war in Iraq going? Or the perp walks of Cheney and Bush? Or perhaps I have confused you with another poster here in the land of off-topic?

Now, back to the chart...

Clinton's Budget Surplus came about in part by his military spending cutbacks, which in turn made America complacent in its fight against terrorism, which in turn created 9/11, which in turn brought budget deficits back in full force.

Thanks Bill. You done us proud once again.

BTW, to keep with the vulgar theme that hcap has been promoting lately, isn't it ironic that the part of the graph marked "Clinton" is a bit phallic looking?

Way to go Billy boy!

BTW, Whatever happened to publicly spanking skate?
By your lack of response I assume you decided to avoid the issue.

Da chart is true isn't it? And if you think the war has been a success, your sorely mistaken. This presidency has been an abject failure.

Clintons' defense spending? Does not solely account for the surplus left. Nor does Genius Georges' increases.

The "OFFICIAL" projection is tweaked down. What else is new?

http://thinkprogress.org/2008/07/29/abc-without-creative-white-house-accounting-bushs-deficit-is-actually-600-billion/

ABC: Without ‘creative White House accounting,’ Bush’s deficit is actually $600 billion.

Claire Shipman reported that the deficit is actually much higher because “creative White House accounting” didn’t include the war, the unemployment costs, Medicare fees, or the housing bill in its calculations. If those numbers are included, it brings “the grand total to about $600 billion.

Maybe I should start a new thread titled "How Low Can IT GO?

It would be interesting to plot the terror attacks against us on that same graph.
