I saw a horse running in Thursday's finale at Saratoga named Lucado, and he'd been running some darned-competitive times for the sprint distances at that track (1:02 and change for 5.5f, 1:10 for 6f). Is it naturally a pretty quick strip out there, or is this a legit horse to consider? Thanks!

Canterbury has a new track superintendent this year. His name is Moe Nye.
Someone told me he was the ts when Canterbury opened in 1985.

The track is running faster than normal.

In the Claiming Crown broke the 1:08.4 track record in 1:08.04. A router later ran 6 f in 1:07.7.

The 5 1/2 track record fell with a 1:03.2 by a claimer and was tied two more times.

The drf track varients are usually in the single digits for sprints this year.

It will be interesting to see the new pars from Cynthia in nest years book.

Hope this helps.

Canterbury is 10 miles from my house. The track is so fast that cheap and i mean cheap horses are running 1/2 mile times that on a normal track would be 8 to 10 lenghts slower.

What happened here deals mostly with our weather , during april and may we had a ton of rain, almost everyday it seemed we got rain, then in june the rain went away and we got extreme heat. The track if you look at it closely is like black top.It is no wonder cheap maidens can run here a 44 .3

If anyone gets any of our shippers and their form looks bad for races run in July you may want to excuse it. 90 degrees with high humidity is playing a major
role in the outcome of our races , many of them are running dead on their feet.

Vegas,
Where abouts do you live? I am on Minnehaha Parkway. Didn't know to many locals that post on PA.

Grahors,
That answers my next question. I wondered -- Minne-ha-ha or Minne-strange?

I ran at Canterbury Downs in there inaugural season and the next 2 seasons.
Ran of course as Irishladstable Trainer Pat Cuccurullo.
Lots of Memories. My 30th B'day (8/4/86) flew to Minnesota for a few days.
The trainer had 4 horse's entered to run over a 3 day span.
We won 3 of the 4 races my B day weekend. I remember staying in a not so fancy hotel and after the first horse who ran won i checked into the Canterbury Inn. I believe it was right across the street from the track.

Jimmy,
The track actually shut down for a few years, was bought buy Curt Sampson and reopened in 1994. Is doing very well right now. Totally remodeled the third floor and customer service is great. The only thing I don't enjoy is the 2 Qhorse races per card on most days..I can't figure those races. Didn't you race quite abit at Arlington?

Canterbury is a great track to visit. I've been there a couple times and was very impressed. Very clean; not the greatest quality racing but still bettable.

Am I being naive' or does that sound like a possible angle?

To Banbury Cross, perhaps?

p.s. Historic post: Toetoe uses the 'quote' option. Right, Vic?

Ken,
A great angle at CBY are shippers from PRM trying turf for the first time.
PRM does not have a turf oval and to ship up here for 1 race....???
Has worked well for me.

I meant entering a horse in the perfect race to ensure a win for the owner's birthday!!

I never bet this track but planning on doing it. I always seem to shy away from small purse tracks and I have no clue why. I guess I get the feeling they are not on up and up.
