according to the drf egg head was euthanized on monday,july 11th,
after succumbing to a case of founder.
kiaran mclaughlin,trainer and actually part owner stated egg head went lame in a work out @ 2 weeks before the horse was euthanized.
as a side issue, the original owner, henry clark, sold off 45% interest in this
horse to kiaran and this trainer's group of investors after this star
blitzed a field in the labelle memorial stakes on 5/7/20005.
his beyer for that race was a 112, which he won by 9 1/2 lengths. His previous non winners of one allow was a beyer 103, done @ philly, winning by 11 lengths.
i was at belmont on 6/11 watching this horse lose to lost in the fog by
about 2 lengths. halfway through the race, it really appeared he could put away this other monster, but it was not to be.
a rough loss to the owners and to the public who were hoping for another matchup at saratoga
