Slang. Hip-hoppers use it... but it's worked its way into sports nomenclature of late.

I give you "props"... I prop you up....to be seen, showcased to all.

"props" comes from "proper respect"

you give em props, or propers. Respect due. You give somebody the proper props, you're cool. You give them too much, they punk you out. You give your peeps less than the proper props, then you're dissing them, and they might bust you in the mouth. It's all very complicated.
