This was a bad call, IMO. I cash either way but the tri is certainly bigger the other way. After watching the replay a few times, it still makes no sense. If anything, Day's horse came out a bit. Then again, if William Troilo is riding the 1 and Pat Day isn't, I doubt they make the switch.
Watching on the Brisbet feed, it appeared that not only did the runnerup 1 lodge an objection against the 2, but the winner lodged an objection against the 1. I've never heard of a first place finisher lodging an objection. Maybe it was a case of "if you claim foul on me, we're claiming foul on you."
