If we have reached the point where one of the two major parties and the once most respected newspaper in the country consider this to be a controversial statement:

"If we can invoke no ultimate limits on the power of government, a democracy is inevitably transformed into a kleptocracy - a license to steal, a warrant for oppression."

then we are really in trouble. If she is so bad - so extreme, so controversial - than why compromise? Why give her a vote? If those claims hold up, if they are valid, then surely they would resonate when presented to the public as reasons to block her nomination. You kind of have to wonder - either the arguments against her are pretty weak, or the democrats have no backbone - or both.
