Picks for Belmont Monday:
R1 #1 Flight Ready-Breeding says he should move up on the turf. Pace situation looks favorable.
R2 #5 Torre and Zim-Barn does extremely well with 2nd off the claim runners. Versatile runner can go on or off the pace.
R3 #5 Kiss and Go-Beaten favorite can bounce back here in first start for new barn. Gets a jock upgrade for this, price should be good.
R4 #3 Better Get Busy-Barn having a good meet so far. I’m mainly playing him because of a trainer spot play that I’ve been following. The ML favorite will be tough here.
R5 #9 Old Crow-Longshot barn does OK with 2nd off the layoff runners. Had some decent races on this course last year.
R6 #7 Bogart’s Cat-Looking for him to pick up the pieces in the stretch. Seems like the pace is likely to be hot here.
R7 #6 Poundcake-Shipper not likely to get any respect at the windows. Figwise he is competitive with this bunch. Jock is a decent rider on the turf.
R8 #4 Cupid’s Arrow-Like the fact that Stevens takes this mount. Came up short in his first off the layup. Has drill since then and he won on the turf at this track last year.
R9 Pass.
R10 #2 Year End Letter-Had an eventful trip first time out. Barn does well with second time starters. Clean trip should put him in contention here.
