6th race 5/25 at Pimlico. Comment line for 2nd place horse

Bartender: prompted pace 2wd, bid to short lead 4-1/2, dueled, 2nd best

Funny part is that there were only 2 horses in the race. (taken off turf)

What was the winners comment.

was pressed for lead, 2nd at 5/8th's pole, drew off, much the best.

now i know that it was an off the turf affair, but still, you would think the track would try to get more than 2 to run it. i wonder if they tried to keep any of the 10 scratches from scratching.

BTW, winners comment was:

clear early, rail, dueled 4-1/2 to upper stretch, driving

Actually it looks like it was split due to too many entries. The 4th was same condition, starters allowance at 1 1/8 m on turf 3yo+. Both races still had AEs. Bartender strangely enough was the only MTO. 4th got 7 to stay in. Just bad luck there I guess.

Just think of all of that breakage that MD missed out on. :D
Actually, as bad as tracks/states have gotten with that kind of stuff today (grubbing for breakage), I'm surprised they didn't offer trifecta betting and pay off on "all".

America is always begging for a match race, it is said; they finally get one and no one notices. :D

I guess the longshot won because the pace was so slow:
25.73, 51.42, 1:16.15, 1:41.73, 1:55.42
