Racing Heart is bred to beat these, has a strong trainer and a solid rider. Workouts look okay. The opposition is not much. 5/1 ML, but will she be bet too heavily? I'll take 4/1 at the gate, as I think she has at least a 30% chance of winning.
She stumbled quite badly at the start and thus ended up way back early, finished fourth. Another first-timer, with okay breeding but probably wanting a little more distance, ran strongly in the stretch and got up late to win over the rather lacklustre opposition.
However, when Racing Heart came out sporting front bandages, I upped my required gate odds to 5/1, which I didn't get, thus sparing myself a losing wager. But no problem-- I just made a really stupid bet in a different race to make up for having backed off of this one. :mad:
