I am using SpecPa.

Guidelines for paceline selection are totally different for THIS race compared to Derby. The "win and place in Grade 1 and Grade 2" are gone.

Most important here is that the Derby lines can NOT be used. Using the "pre race analysis" screen to help with line selection here is the Betting line for the race:

Best of luck to all! :)

Richie,

Thanks for the look at Spec. I presume you did some "hides" as only 5 horses are listed. I ran the Preakness through WorkHorse Pro 2 and it came up with:

12 Afleet Alex
2 High Fly
13 Giacomo
4 Greeley's Galaxy

and Equisim Simulator has it:

4 Greeley's Galaxy
2 High Fly
3 Noble Causeway
12 Afleet Alex

How much is your computer betting? Is that in the program?

I'll assume a serious question...and the answer for the two programs I listed is no, neither recommends how much to bet. Those are merely selections.

The Master Magician straight outta the box:

Wilko 94 16
Greeley's Galaxy 88 16
Galloping Grocer 94 15
High Limit 84 15
Giacomo 90 13
Scrappy T 84 13
Closing Argument 89 11
High Fly 88 10
Noble Causeway 86 9
Malibu Moonshine 65 7
Afleet Alex 89 5
Sun King 75 -3
Hal's Image 53 -6
Going Wild 61 -15

The ratings are for PBS and PPF respectively. Galloping Grocer is the fulcrum with a very fast 1:09 2/5, making for several horses to have Fulcrum indicators. Afleet Alex has an aberrant rating from his Arkansas Derby. Overriding the aberrancy indicator would give him a PPF of 24.

Andi,
It is a Sartin program in that a lot of the formulas are used. It was made by Doc's programmer after Doc folded up shop.

Stay cool

at yahoogroups.com both V/DC Messenger and Sartin ALums discuss it's use and nuances if you are interested in reading about Speculator.
Folks help out with their experiences, understandings and MUCH of that feeback went into the programmer's making solid changes to the lastest versions. HE LISTENS to what works/doesn't work, and changes same.
