Listed on Equibase as Equine Safety Precautions for the reason to cancel. ANyone have any light on the subject? Any idea what they are talking about?

There was some severe weather in this region: lightening, wind, all that jazz. Probably related to that somehow.

You would think that they would just list weather as teh cause or something.

I guess that's too passe. Modern times require modern euphemisms.

"The reason for the cancellation is to insure maximum equine safety precautions. On Thursday morning, May 18, the Indiana Horse Racing Commission (IHRC) was notified that a possible case of “strangles,” a non-fatal equine respiratory disease, had been detected in horses stabled in the receiving barn.

Upon examination by the track veterinarian, it was determined that two horses did show symptoms consistent with strangles. The horses were immediately removed from the grounds and transported to Purdue University in Lafayette, IN for quarantine and observation."
I do a lot of racing and capping research.
