Question for you pace handicappers out there,

When making pace calcs (i.e., velocity) for short sprints (5, 5.5 f), how do you reconcile the difference between distances of the fractional times and the points of call (for beaten length adjustments)? For example, the 2nd call in most 5f races is 3/8 and the 2nd fractional time is 1/2 mile. Do you extrapolate the times and make the calcs at the call points or extrapolate the BL's to estimate them at the standard 2f, 4f points? Neither?
Seems like an obvious situation but I don't ever see it really being addressed (most texts and examples only use 6f)?
Am I missing something here?

I just ignore the difference and do short sprints the same way I do 6 furlong races.
