Posted a few weeks ago my picks. AA & Bandini. They were the only "dual qualifiers" that fit the classical Derby winner profile. AA ran very gamely, Bandini left whatever race he had in the paddock.
Two "insights" that I'll file away for next year. Once again it took a colt with at least THREE STARTS as a 3 yr old to win. Also, I believe I picked this up on another board. Most Derby winners come from the 6 entries that have the highest aggregate Beyers in their last three starts. Here's the list
1- HIGH FLY--- 296
2-BANDINI---291
3-BELLAMY ROAD--- 288
4-AFLEET ALEX---288
5- HIGH LIMIT---286
6- GIACOMO--286
Simply another bit of information that may clarify or perhaps further confuse the issue. Next year I'll be placing a small wager on any L/S that's on this list.
