Thats about all he deserves. Will he be the next Monarchos (never win another race)?

Does anyone have the Beyers for the dirt races for the day and put them up ? Seems they were flying all day, and just maybe the lowest beyer will be for the Derby.

The Derby won't be the lowest for sure. The allowance route in the last was a lot slower, and some of the sprints were sub 100 as well.

If he does throw out any races as a fluke, I would expect less than stellar numbers from Beyer for legitimate and other reasons.

I went to the DRF Leaderboard to check if the Derby Beyer cracked the leaders. It didn't. What cracked me up was seeing a filly named Egg Head that won a sprint at Del Park Saturday in the second spot with a 112!

You know, from a numbers standpoint, you can watch a lot of races over an entire career and not see another one where 18 out of 20 horses regress in the spring of their 3yo seasons, and the other two not much more than staying pat. The magnitude of this race's flukiness has yet to sink it. I've seen some gloating already by anti-numbers fans, for some odd reason, as if a once-in-a-lifetime situation can subvert an entire system.

I figured that anything that could earn a Beyer of about 100 would impact the superfecta, and that was about 3/4's of the field, but I would never have guessed that that would win it.

If ever there was a year for a filly to step up and take it down, like some people seem to hope for every year, this would have been one. Has anyone seen an Oaks number for Summerly?

Egg Head is a monster. Gotta love that name. If a horse named Egg Head won the Derby, I think it would generate a public following.

I'm nearly certain I've never seen a Derby Day where not one, but three 3yos received better Beyers than the Derby winner.

Free attaboy to anyone that can name the other ones besides Egg Head!

Bernie Blue must be one.

That is one attaboy, Bernie Blue at Mountaineer, beating Danieltown I believe at 5f, no easy feat. 102.

So Danieltown beaten 1/2 length should come in at 101.

Nice try, but he's not a 3yo.

There used to be a Computer store around this area named Egg Head. Always thought it a strange name.

Beyers will do more harm than help in locating winners.
