Picks for Belmont Sunday:
R1 #7 June the Tiger-ML fave may be a tad vulnerable so this is the runner I’m going with. Had a nightmare trip last time and made a good showing to run second. That was his second off a layoff, so he may be set now.
R2 #6 C.L. Rib-Old timer returns to a distance he has run well at in the past. Trainer/jock clicked last month with the sprint/route move.
R3 Pass. ML fav comes out of a field that produced two next out winners plus two eventual graded stakes winners. Will be a very short price here.
R4 #1 Kendricks Patsy-Switch to Velazquez a positive move here. Had trouble in both starts. Had a decent drill over this surface.
R5 #4 Three in the Bag-ML favorite will be well bet so price may be ok on this one. ML favorite also looks vulnerable so this runner looks good in this spot. Been drilling extremely well here and rarely runs a bad one.
R6 #8 Kristali-Fits here figwise and maiden race he just won had three next out winners. Will be a typical well bet Pletcher/Velazquez runner.
R7 #6 Gold Tango-Like the fact that the trainer returns him for a higher price off the layoff. Has figs that make him competitive with this group. Barn does very well with the turf/dirt move as well.
R8 #7 Pretty Partisan-Closer should do well in this heat. Anywhere near double digits and I’ll be on her.
R9 #2 Super Nationals-Noted improvement in last two when taken off the AQU inner. Showed good speed two back on the dirt, may get the lead in here today.
