:bang: You are the only people I know who can really share my pain...
My folks were with me and we screamed our lungs out for the 18, Closing Argument, coming down the stretch.

If only the order of finish was 18-10 instead of 10-18. <arrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!>

I had a nice win bet on the 18 (along with the 9); the 18-10 exacta AND the trifecta 18-10-12 ( along with other logical combos with the 9, 15, 4 and 14 on top )

This would have been an $100,000+ race for me!!!!...
But since I did not use the 10 on top; I came out with nothing but bookmarks ... ZIP!

I was also alive to the $1M Pick 4 going into the 3rd leg (beat that 2-5 pork chop in the 2nd leg...that was great!) but the 9 busted me out .

At least I know I did good work on these races .....but it stings....I seriously need a drink... many times over.

But even though I did not win a penny today, it was the best handicapping that I have ever done.

Hope you guys did better...

best,

mhrussell,

FWIW many of us have had those days and they are really tough, expect to wake up a couple times during the night hating yourself. That's life in the fast lane :)

I can feel your pain as I had closing arg on top of the 12 and 17 in the tri. Got a couple of bucks wps on the 18 though.

Giacomo killed my pick 3 as I had the 9 and 2 in both other legs. I think the derby could be the time I start hitting the all button for some small savers.

Matt,
That sounds excruciating. I'm so sorry.
And here I thought I had it bad because I got split by 18 for the 10-12 exacta. I cashed a small win bet ($5) on the 10, but it was bittersweet because I missed the exotics. The pace fell apart just as I had hoped, but I used 14 and 17 as my main win horses along with the 10. I exacta boxed them with with 20 (for reversal reasons) and part wheeled 10-14-17 with 4-11-12-15. Looking back I could make a case to use 18 instead of the 20. I really didn't like either's run style. They both looked more presser than true closer. Had to make a call and lost.

I had a pretty good day over all. I hit the winners in CD 9th race and BEL 9th race, then caught the little win bet in the Derby. Being a longshot player, I never hit 3 win bets in a row. I was happy, but after seeing those exotic payouts I knew it could've been so much better.

I can't tell you anything you don't know. Your capping was great. Case of good work, not so good result. Like Mike P says you can only control the bets you make, not the results.

BTW Thanks for mentioning the Yahoo HM board on one of your posts last week. I knew there was a Master Magician board (now defunct) , with little if any activity. What a pleasant surprise to see what you guys are up to with TMM and related concepts. I haven't had a chance to sign up and post, but look forward to taking part.

Take care and good luck,
Kristian
