Hey all fellow Showdown-ers. I've requested PA set us up a sticky thread in the Selections section for all of us playing. Got my entry in. Hopefully will make it past day 2 this time......

I am game again, and will start posting tomorrow. Going to give the card a once over tonight, and then wait for the scratches.

I entered the contest for the 1st time and gonna try my luck. As for me I love Gygistar. He got beat by Value Plus ,but he loves this track and should even get a fair price for the beast. If he scratches which I doubt he will I will play Value Plus.

Good Luck all:lol: :bang:

Put my day's pick in already...at work and only half awake, so didn't want to forget about it. Going with Plenty, #5, in the 7th. Only going to be a 6 horse race, and should in reality be contested by only 3 of them. If he scratches, I got no problem with taking whoever the post time favorite is for this lot.

I almost forgot about it. I thought today was a "tough" card with no real standouts, other than maybe Value Plus, but I ended on Seeking The Money in the 4th,

I WENT WITH SNOWMAN IN THE 6TH AND PLENTY IN THE 7TH

I hit the show contest horse about 75% of the time.
So after two days I have a bit better than 50/50 to go on into the 3rd day.

Best I ever did was to be eliminated as player 80.

A few years ago I went 18 for 20 in the Belmont on track contest and won the $1000, "most winning plays", prize..
They elminated that prize this year. :bang:

So good luck to us.

I WENT WITH SNOWMAN IN THE 6TH....

Joe M

Off the board at 1/2 to 1...
That will happen about 22% of the time,,
(the same probability of winning on the come-out roll..)

Plenty is plenty good enough grabbing second. Sorry about Snowman Joe. He took out 18% of the field, so you weren't alone. Clean 2nd for Buddha as well. Either Gygistar or Value Plus out of the money turns day 1 into a real bloodbath. Wingman also took out 6% in the first

3RD RACE, LUCAS TRAINED TETRAHEDRON.

I would estimate that 1590 will be left after to day.

lets hope we are in there..

Going with the old man in the 4th, #6, Sovereign Kit.

Well our races are run and Tonto gets the hard luck of St. Johns Dress finishing 3rd and then being disqualified. That's a crummy way to go out. Formula and I both got shows and Buddha is once again storming away with a win!

Sorry about that formula. After 2 races in the books it looks like your guess may be high. And Buddha....I'd hate to go up against you when you actually study the PPs. Congrats on another win. Now I wait for the 5th

OTM Al

The bloodbath continues...3 days in and 3/4 of the field gone already...going to go study PPs for tomorrow.

Yesterday, 5/6, a dutch bet on all the favorites would have returned a $ loss of 57 cents on the dollar, compared to the "normal" loss rate of about 16%.

Going out on a bit of a limb today perhaps. She's Sterling, #7, in the 5th. Just have a funny feeling that chalk may be bad today. Taking a risk on a horse coming off a long layoff, but the competiton isn't great. See what happens.....

I dont really want to, but I have to use Don Six. Only a 5 horse field, and I think he is the quickest of all of them. I figure a bunch will use him, so I will advance with a bunch, or fold with a bunch today.

You're still alive, but you should have gone with the top CJ!!! :D

i know i know. I just was thinking class also, and Uncle Camie hadnt shown anything other that 1 conditioned AOC, and some other than AOC wins. Wasnt sure if he had what it would take to run with Don Six early and still win the race. Turns out, he could just sit off of him, and make a big move around the turn and blow by him :) I am just glad to be going on to the next day. Going to wait for scratches tomorrow.

I hate choosing horses in full field, but I am going to go with Sailwind (#4) in the first. Another horse I was considering was Cosmos Mariner in the 5th, or Kristali in the 6th.

well, on to week 2. Didnt like the race, but not much appealed to me.

Congrats Buddha. I thought I had a good one yesterday, but he decided to front run and finshed up 4th.... Oh well... least I made a couple bucks yesterday

Congrats Buddha.

Thanks. To week two, there are 589 people left.

Today was a tough one to find a "sure" horse I thought. I ended up with Bayou Breeze in the 8th. There were a few others I was considering, but oh well. Might need a little luck on my side today :)

got some stuff to do tomorrow, so to make sure that I get in, I went with Lookslikeabillion for Thursdays card. Looks solid against that bunch, and if he scratches, I woudl feel confident with the fav in a 5 horse field :)

OTM Al
05-12-2005, 02:38 PM
Well, Buddha, you once again outlasted the rest of us, but now we're all on the bench. Lookslikeabillion finished 4th and took out 44% of the remaining entires. One horse bloodbath.....There's always Saratoga........

Buddha
05-12-2005, 03:45 PM
yep. seems to always happen that way. at least i took 44% out with me :)
