View Full Version : Making a Speed fig out of a fps number
Questions:
#1 Somebody posted a way to make a speed type fig out of a velocity number a while ago...think it was lousycapper II, but I cna' t find it on a search. It was something like 56.73 fps - subtract a constant from the the 56.73, like 45.00
and get 117.3, then multiple by 10 to make it 113.3....something like that.
Anyone remeber how it went, or better yet, actually use it?
#2 Is there a utility program that converts BRIs single file drf in to a multiple file?

(((66 * furlongs - lengths behind) / winner's time) - 4.5) * 100
You'll have to compensate for the difference between the various distances. I don't know if the Beyer point scale will work, but I suspect that it will. I use my own differential numbers. I was doing this long before the old Morning Telegraph went kaput.

You might want to e-mail Matt Thomas @
smertsoftware@comcast.net
He may have a shell program that will do what you want.

#2: Methinks Brisnet has a shareware program for this

No- Sorry i read the question the other way-multi yo single
Freddy
Tom,
What type of scale are you looking for with the converted speed figure? BRIS, Beyer, Thorograph, etc? Tell me that, I'll come up with a formula.
A Quirin type number - one length per point, two points, whatever. HTR is going to include the fps pp screen in its exports this summer and I want to manipulate the velocity numbers into speed type figs.
OK, give me a day or two, I'll post here if someone doesn't beat me to it.

Why don't you just concatenate the multi files into a single?

Tom-
I need to use the BRIS multi-file format data in my Excel program (the single file format will not work due to the 254 column limit in Excel..).
For any future dates, you know you can download the multi' format from BRIS instead of the single? <Shoot me if this is a dumb question.. :bang: you are probably trying to convert existing single format data files you already have?..>
...It's Derby week! Let's hope for some big prices on the undercard!
Thanks, everyone.
