What is the criteria for a horse being a solid favorite.
A favorite you cannot bet against?
I am guessing a ready horse that has top speed rating.

Good connections as well. A favorite with a poor trainer or jockey is a play against for me.

In additon, for me, a legit favorite is not trying anything new (surface, stretch-out, blinkers, meds, ...).

I also look at trainers %'s with favorites, or short-priced favorites.

A favorite that can't lose. I make these 1/1 on my line because they DO lose about half the time. Below 1/1 no bet.

A horse that hasn't been a repeated money burner.

The track surface/distance bias should clearly support it's running style.
