Hi, I thought I might give you guys some background on SILENT WITNESS, in terms of breeding and how he arrived to race in Hong Kong..

SILENT WITNESS is an Australian bred horse, and as with many horses that race in Hong Kong, they are primarily Australian bred and New Zealand bred.
In many scenarios, when young horses race in AUS and NZ and show promise, then the big chequebooks come out, and if you are lucky enough, you can make alot of money.
As an example, the winner of the QE 2 cup VENGEANCE OF RAIN, was purchased for about 850,000 aussie dollars in the last 12 months.

Anyway back to SILENT WITNESS.
He is by EL MOXIE, A Mr. Prospector horse who won a couple of Claiming and Allowance races in the late 80's.
He is a very popular sire down our way.

His dam is JADE TIARA, an Australian bred mare who won 4 races from 1000 - 1200.

SILENT WITNESS was purchased for 65,000 dollars at one of the major sales in Australia, and was bought by top trainer David Hall, who apparently is training in Hong Kong at this time.

Before he went to the races, he trialled on a country track here down in Melbourne, Australia and won by 4 lengths, and was very impressive. This led to an offer made from Hong Kong, and was sold on to the current owner.

You all saw him today, and he just does it on his ear, and I guess the acid test is when he races outside of Hong Kong, but he is a gelding and there is no point just leaving him in Hong Kong.
He just has to race overseas, and I know our racing clubs are chasing him to race in our major carnival, the Melbourne Cup carnival, which is in November.
