I have to say I'm not surprised, but I'm still pretty disgusted at the outcome of this "sham" investigation. How could those in charge have no accountability in this matter? What a joke!

And, just my opinion, the investigation should have gone higher than what it did, though obviously that would have been a waste of time given the outcome.

I'm sure we haven't heard the end of this.

I share your misgivings about how this is turning out.

Very well-informed and experienced sources insist that a breakdown in the chain of command structure is the cause of this mess. There was clear evidence that our lowest ranking security/intelligence troops were sometimes (if not routinely) being supervised by civilian personnel outside their own command structure of senior NCOs and officers.

Intense pressure from non-military authorities in Washington allowed this command structure breakdown to spiral out of control to the point where civilian "spooks and advisors" were giving orders instead of accepting supervision by, and taking orders from, the military personnel officially responsible for running the Abu Ghraib facility. In reality, it appears the military was only "nominally" put in charge at Abu Ghraib.

Why have none of the civilians who appeared in extensive video/photo evidence been indicted, along with their superiors, for abuses at Abu Ghraib?

Unfortunately, its another one of the Sacrfices you volunteered for when you signed on. You will take the fall for the Powers at be. The whole Abu Garib issue was a carefully and calculated mission of the CIA.

The whole investigation was ridiculous to begin with. At all levels. No one should be held accountable for anything. Nothing bad happened. the senteces handed out already FAR exceed the seriousness or severity of the deeds. It's like getting 10 years for jay walking.

You spelled it correctly, now if the rutabaga could only say it, that would be something

I agree somewhat Tom, but it just pisses me off that some enlisted reservists are taking the fall, including jail time, while the bosses get off with nothing. I seriously doubt these people decided to do these actions on their own. Even if they did, shouldn't the superiors have known what was going on?

Yeah go figure! Look at NYRA. A couple of bad tellers might bring down the whole organization!!

Maybe we should get Eliot Spitzer to go after the Abu Ghraib offenders!!

However, seeing you naked would be cruel and unusual punishment for normal folks, and placing your grotesque hulk atop a human pyramid would definitely be premeditated murder. :(

Is this mild example from the photos obtained by New Yorker Magazine your kind of fun?

Thats inappropiatte. And since you in particular, go out of your way to be crytic and anonymous while also relating a multitude of real life experience's, I find it even more so.

PA,

In the military, we are supposed to take responsibility for what happens below our leadership level. Apparently, that doesn't apply to Generals.

Compared to the abuse and torture our troops have suffered over the years as POWs, this looks like a cakewalk to me......hell, remove the hoods and put out some carpeting and you could be looking at one helluva TWISTER party....

Over the line....now youre sounding like Rush. Just another fraternity hazing. Look, no one denies that it is disgusting that our POWs have been abused, but that certainly doesn't excuse the behavior that took place at Abu Ghraib. Personally, I don't know who was responsbile, but please, don't treat the behavior as if it is insignficant.

I bet the pilot of that chopper that got shot down the other day would have gladly traded the twister party for what happen to him.
