just read that Maybee, the Phipps of the west coast, died.Does it seem like these things happen in threes?....Also read where Warren Stute had a stroke,so he will no longer exercise any of the horses he trains.Strange enough the trainer would ride to work his own horse, but the guy is eighty!Iwould be afraid ,at that age, of falling off the toilet, much less haul myself up on a racehorse.

Certainly some sad blows to the racing community with the loss of two such prominent men.

As for Stute .. I thought it was great he was still getting on his horses. There is nothing better than getting on a horse yourself to know what's really going on .. it's like anything .. you can be told what's going on, but there's nothing like first-hand experience. It's mind-blowing when you stop to think of this older gentlemen still getting up on these fractious, flighty horses, but for some people, riding becomes much like walking .. you don't have to think about it .. it's just natural.
