Does anyone know why racing was moved from Mohawk to Woodbine ?

Normally they run at Mohawk this time of year

There was controversey surrounding the moving of the dates from Mohawk to Woodbine last year. All a result of declining handle and attendance at Mowhawk as compared to increases at Woodbine.

These items should still be in the Standardbred Canada News Archives:

BTW Traditionally speaking, these winter dates were at the old Greenwood Track through the end of April :)

I do believe racing returns to Mohawk in June. The horseman are very excited at that,as they prefer mohawk over woodbine. The only thing is though, the way the drivers and trainers are getting suspended, and in trouble, they might not have as many horsepeople as usual.;)

"they might not have as many horsepeople as usual"

There exist an over abundance of protege's in the ranks willing to assume their nefarious practices ;)
Under a new name (at least in Toronto) of course ;)

FWIW,the harness horses are at Woodbine until June 18,the day of the North America Cup.
Mohawk starts June 20,and runs through Oct.8.Just the one meet this year.
They return to Woodbine Oct.10 for the balance of the year.
Wed. & Sun. are dark days for the rest of the year.Plus Sat.Dec.24.
