Thanks, Figman. This is really interesting and confirms the observation that this crop of 3-year-olds seems pretty weak, at least judging from the prep races run thus far. Consolidator is the only horse from this past weekend to run a 100+ number. If I'm counting correctly, only four horses, Closing Argument, Going Wild, High Limit, and now Consolidator have spring Beyers of 100 or over. Afleet Alex had a 106 in the 6f Mountain Valley, but it's not a Derby prep.

The interesting one to me is the slow 95 run by Greater Good in the Rebel after Afleet Alex's lung-infection induced fade. GG's number was a career best, and he may improve, but I doubt it. The Rebel was a very weirdly run race.

With Lost in the Fog out of the picture and AA's comeback a question mark, the Derby picture seems to me to be as clouded as ever.
