News is that Bush buddy, hack Tom Delay is under investigation for his "relationship" with special interests. Allegations include

1. a $70,000 trip to England for Delay and his wife paid for with laundered money. Delay claims he didn't know where funds came from! yea, Tom we believe ya :D The Choctaws bought you off didn't they?

2. a trip to South Korea paid for by an organization considered a foreign agent. Delay again didn't know

Last year, the Ethics committee admonished him for "asking federal aviation officials to track an airplane involved in a Texas political spat and for conduct that suggested political donations might influence legislative action" (Wash. Post).

Just another corrupt politician who sells out the AMERICAN people.

How do you determine who is a hack and who is not?

Suppose a senator got drunk, drove his car off a bridge and a girl was trapped inside the submerged car. Instead of trying to save the girls or going for help, the guy goes into overdrive to protect his image and political career.
Would this guy be a hack?

How about a bunch of senaotrs get together and mkaee an arbitrary rule that a 60% vote is needed to stop a philibuster, and then go ahead and use this to block even holding a fair vote to accept or reject nominees to the federal courts? Wouldn't this be selling out the American people by not allowing their elected officials to even vote on imprtant appointnments? And would these guys be hacks?

from dictionary.com

hack -
2: a politician who belongs to a small clique that controls a political party for private rather than public ends [syn: machine politician, ward-heeler, political hack]

e.g. TOM DELAY - he essentially runs the House of Rep. and is obviously beholden to special interest (see post #1)

This is a reply to Tom,
Although he may not get it as I am probably number one on his ignore list. :D
Tom,
If i read the definition properly, the democratic senators who are trying to block the Judicial nominations are not hacks. I would consider the Republican senators that are trying to change the traditional senate rules to promote their personal interests to be more in the classification of hacks.
Much like the republican representatives that changed the ethics rules in the house to protect Delay would be considered hacks.

Could be worse. :) In Texas, our dems in state gov't fled the state to New Mexico and Oklahoma on separate occasions to avoid vote counts on bills they knew they'd lose. Total abandonment of their responsibilities, and the state's business was put on hold the last time they left their duties (2003).

Dems here did that first, in 1979. They've been losing seats ever since. Did it again in 2003. Even dems here were upset. It's a dead political party here, now...Ruled as "suicide".
