The angle that I have made the most money on is the big move two races back followed by a tightener. OR a horse showing speed two back that normally doesn't..... followed by a tightener. I am interested in hearing other peoples quick angles. Thanks!

Sharp race first off the layoff, then an out of the money race next out. Back today after 2-3 weeks off after the dud. Especially if the first two were sprints and today is a route.

Tom,

So the tightener is the dud race ?

Tightener to me is an even effort. Usually I like to start looking for signs around the 4th or 5th race off of a layoff.

My favorite angles vary from trainer to trainer.

For example, with Doug O'Neill I like when he claims a horse and runs him back in seven days with a sustantial class hike.

Other trainers rush to enter into a sprint overloaded with early pace following their horse setting the pace and stopping in a route. It's really fun to watch 'em try to close from way back. Doesn't always work, but it's fun to watch.

Trackman your looking for signs 4 or 5 races after a layoff --- man that's a whole season for a ton of t-bred horses.

The term "tightener" is generally associated with standardbreds, it almost always describes the first race back after a layoff.
