So I just found out today that the company I work for (Cantor Fitzgerald) is the one behind the Choose Six bet with SG at Deleware Park this summer.

Should be interesting

From the paperwork floating around the office:

".......Simply put, the Group Bet payout will always be approx. the inverse of the odds on the excluded horse. So a group be against a 4-5 horse will pay about 5-4 (depending on takeout)"

"........payout is calculated by multiplying the amount bet on the winning horse by the horse's odds. The difference is since only a fraction of a bet is placed on one horse......a 10-1 horse may have .42 bet on him, resulting in a 4.20 payout"

here is the press release from SG, from last year

The info we mail to tracks to get them to sign up for the bet states That you can pick any 6 races you like, and you can buy back into the pool if you are eliminated and there are at least 6 races left on the card.

"The portion of the Choose Six remaining for payout is divided evenly among all winning tickets at the conclusion of the card. All tickets pay the same amount regardless of which races comprise the ticket."

Honestly cannot see the choose six being successful, if you have a big price winner you can get penalized by splitting the pool with someone who picked 6 short priced winners in the other races...ridiculous

The group bet has potential but I suspect the take will make it like Quick Draw

What can you say. What a Tragedy. I went in and looked around. Being Irish, I read the tributes to Joe Doyle, James Quiin and Brian Murphy. 3 was enough for one day.
